The Roop “Discoteque” installation at MO – why?
“Discoteque” by the music band “The Roop” inspired the Yellow Wave through Lithuania and Europe this spring. But why one of the highlights of the official video of this song is installed at MO Museum?
The song “Discoteque”, its music video and participation in Eurovision, as Vaidotas Valiukevičius, the leader of the band “The Roop”, says, is a celebration that will not only be remembered by them, but also by the whole Lithuania. That is why the main installation of their official video has become the introduction to the new photography exhibition “Celebrate for Change” at MO.
A celebration they won't forget
“Discoteque – the song that made the yellow wave not only in Lithuania but also in Europe. It brought together people of all ages and beliefs. The colour yellow, symbolising hope and light, drew attention to a small country – Lithuania. It was a celebration of change, showing that we can be united,” says Vaidotas Valiukevičius, leader of “The Roop”.
“A celebration you won’t forget” is a series of photos and stories sent and shared by MO visitors and MO team. We shared them while preparing for a new photography exhibition. “Discoteque’s” song, its story, its video and Eurovision – a celebration that “The Roop” and most Lithuanians will never forget.

The main installation of official video at MO
“Discoteque” and the colour yellow became the image of “The Roop” and of Lithuania as a whole this spring. You can see and try out the set for the song’s video on the dance floor at MO Museum. We look forward to seeing you there!
The installation is an opportunity to revisit and extend the celebration of Yellow Wave and “The Roop” at the museum – to take photos or even dance to the song in the installation itself!
