MO has been nominated for the “Museum Oscars”
MO Museum has been nominated this year for the Leading Culture Destinations (LCDs) Award in the category New Culture Destination. The awards, co-organised this year with VisitBerlin and The New York Times, will take place on 4th of March in Berlin, where ITB, the largest tourism exhibition in the world, will also take place.
MO Museum competes with two other selected nominees in the New Culture Destination category: Muzeum Susch (Switzerland) and Amos Rex (Finland). They aspire to become the best New Culture Destination Museum in Europe. Winners in this category will also be selected in the Asia Pacific region, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, and North America.
“This nomination is very important because it means that Lithuania and Vilnius have been noticed and can be discovered by many tourists and lovers of cultural travels. At the same time, it is an evaluation of the activities of MO Museum and a stimulus to continue. We look forward to March because being one of the top three in this category is a great achievement for us”, says Milda Ivanauskienė, Director at MO Museum.
In the international media, the awards are called the “Museum Oscars”. This year, they have a total of 18 categories, with the top three nominated in each field. All nominees are available HERE.
