In summer, MO invites to spend time in its open spaces
MO Museum introduces its summer programme for Vilnius residents and city guests and invites them to participate in events in the museum‘s open spaces. Most of the events will take place at the MO sculpture garden and on the terrace, so it will be easily available to the broad public. Poetry evenings, picnics, morning sports and open meetings with the gardeners‘ community are planned.
Opening of summer programme
The programme of MO Museum summer events will be announced this month at MO Friday, on 31 May, at 6 p.m. During the evening, MO Museum invites to attend the talk with Petras Mazūras, one of the authors of the work at the MO sculpture garden. After the meeting with him, visitors will be able to enjoy the concert of Čiurlionis Quartet; the evening programme will be completed by introducing the new sculpture “Water Lillies“ by Severija Inčirauskaitė-Kriaunevičienė.
“We keep creating the museum all the time, this is an endless process. It is our wish that more people get involved in this process and on the journey of getting to know art and at the same time – themselves. This can happen both in MO Museum’s exposition halls and in the open spaces of MO garden. That is why we invite you to visit MO in the summer and participate in talks and activities on the MO terrace or in the sculpture garden. We believe that this new urban and already beloved space will become a new centre of attraction and place for leisure,” says Milda Ivanauskienė, Director at MO Museum.
At MO Friday, visitors will also be introduced to the e-guide for the open-air exposition at the MO sculpture garden. The most prominent Lithuanian sculptors‘ works exhibited here include “Psalm 23” by Ksenija Jaroševaitė, “Kuoka” by Vladas Urbanavičius, “Four Great Dependant Ones” by Mindaugas Navakas, and “NR” by Petras Mazūras created particularly for MO Museum.
New outdoor activities
This summer, each and every visitor will find events and activities at MO Museum to suit his or her taste. One will be able to actively start one’s morning or meaningfully spend the evening here.
“We are planning morning exercises on the MO terrace and poetry reading in the evenings; visitors will also be invited to a new initiative – a picnic at the MO sculpture garden,” Ivanauskienė names summer activities in the open spaces of MO Museum.
Those interested in how the MO sculpture garden was created – where the inspiration came from and how the plants were selected – are invited to talks and discussions with the representatives of Geltonas karutis. These meetings will also include discussions on how to take care of plants or create a nice garden for yourself.
In the summer, the museum will also continue a series of talks Between Cultures, focusing on new phenomena, discoveries, learning, and the informal friends and ambassadors of the Lithuanian culture. In June, the fifth – renewed – season of Vilnius Talking Statues will be opened as well.
Summer camps for children
In the summer, MO Museum invites children to take part in art and science camps. Already from 8 July, art camps for 5-9-year-olds will begin at MO Museum, organised together with the theatre Pradžia. And from 22 July, 10-13-year-olds are invited to the art and science camp MeMo, organised by Istorijų Centras.
“We want to introduce the youngest art experts to art and creative discoveries at the museum. We believe that having become familiar with the art, its various forms, and its daily activities in the museum at an early age, children will grow open and will be able to better understand themselves and their environment,” Director at MO adds.
Summer activities at MO Museum will be presented at MO Friday, on 31 May. The event is open to everyone.
