This year MO Museum and LRT are organising Lithuanian Art Games – MOlympics

At the beginning of this summer, MO Museum is organising virtual Lithuanian Art Games, the MOlympics. The Games will take place on 4 June, and everyone who is interested is invited to take part and learn more about Lithuanian art by playful means.

Fun and engaging way to learn more

“We are constantly looking for ways to offer new experiences and ways to learn more about Lithuanian art. So, during the quarantine period, after learning that the Olympic Games will not take place in Tokyo this year, we decided to organise the MOlympics – the virtual Lithuanian Art Games,” says Milda Ivanauskienė, Director at MO Museum.

She also adds that this event is a fun game. Even its motto, It is fun to know and even more fun to learn, suggests that the goal is to participate and learn more. Of course, the best ones will also be awarded.

“We are always looking for new, interactive ways to present the best works of Lithuanian and world art to the people of Lithuania, to stimulate interest and discover the diversity of art. That is what the project of the Lithuanian virtual Art Games, the MOlympics, is about: it involves and enables you to discover the interesting world of art without leaving your home,” says Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė, Director at public broadcaster LRT, which is the project partner.

The questions for the MOlympiad are composed by MO Museum, so the Games will make it possible to meet artists and stories from the MO collection, ranging from the 1960s to the present day.

Art Games will take place on 4 June

The MOlympics will take place on 4 June. The Games will continue throughout the day from 8 a.m. until midnight. All you have to do is visit www.mo.lrt.lt, register and participate. And those who want to register in advance can do it now at www.mo.lrt.lt.

There will be 30 questions at the Lithuanian Art Games. All participants will be given three answer options, one of which will be correct. Almost all of the questions will be illustrated with photos of works from the MO Collection that will help participants either answer the question or suggest a way to find the correct answer. It is no less important that in this way it will be possible to see a number of works of art and learn about their authors.

What can winners expect?

The MO team adds that it is most important not to win but rather take part, just as in the real Olympics. However, prizes will be awarded to those who enjoy speed and collecting points.

The five participants who score the biggest amount of points in the shortest time will be awarded. They will receive prizes established by MO Museum: an exclusive evening at the museum open only to the winners, with dinner and a tour at the MO Storage Room, a tour with a group of friends with a MO guide, a cycle of Mindful Mornings sessions, annual or monthly MO Museum Memberships (MOdernists).

For those willing to get prepared

MO Museum has only recently completed a series of video stories about Lithuanian modern and contemporary artists, authors of the MO Collection. All videos can be found HERE.

The MOlympics is organised by MO Museum in cooperation with LRT.
