Brigitte Macron, the wife of the French President, who is on an official visit to Lithuania, together with the first lady of Lithuania, Diana Nausėdienė, have visited MO Museum.

The first ladies of Lithuania and France met with the founders of MO Museum, Danguolė and Viktoras Butkus, as well as with the director of MO Museum Milda Ivanauskienė and members of the MO team.

Having gotten acquainted with the history and collection of MO, Ms Macron and Ms Nausėdienė visited the exhibition “Why Is It Hard to Love?”, currently on display at the Museum.

“The fact that MO Museum was included in the tense programme of the French President and his spouse in Lithuania provided an important opportunity to present Lithuanian contemporary artists, whose works are exhibited in a cinematographic exhibition created by foreign artists Saskia Boddeke and Peter Greenaway".

“The fact that MO Museum was included in the tense programme of the French President and his spouse in Lithuania provided an important opportunity to present Lithuanian contemporary artists, whose works are exhibited in a cinematographic exhibition created by foreign artists Saskia Boddeke and Peter Greenaway. The exhibition theme refers to the current issues of the modern world – this confirms that we are global players, reflecting on problems and open to mutual cooperation,” says Milda Ivanauskienė, Director at MO Museum.

The curators of the MO Museum exhibition “Why Is It Hard to Love?” analyse situations where their children’s generation faces difficult issues and the uncontrolled flow of information. Every day brings new problems: refugee crises, ecological cataclysms and political tensions.

Artists Boddeke and Greenaway, who have curated the exhibition visited by the first ladies of the two countries, are concerned about the indifference to the migrant crisis and the lack of humanity. The topic of the exhibition that refers to the fundamental questions of how people strive for balance in life by choosing between good and evil has also gained huge additional relevance, given the current situation of the pandemic.

French President Emanuel Macron and his wife have visited Lithuania for the first time.
