Today’s world is undeniably confusing, full of unanswered questions and scant on clear answers. Spirituality is often a safe haven from all this, providing the answers we crave about universal truth and order. It is no wonder that conspiracy theorists, lifestyle coaches, app producers and charlatans of all kinds make use of it.

With the opening of the MO Museum’s small exhibition “Down the Rabbit Hole”, we will look at contemporary spirituality from different angles – with a penetrating or slightly critical gaze as well as openness, admiration or playful irony.

We will be discussing, drawing aura portraits and making prophecies out of 3D jewellery – let’s dive in!

About the exhibition

The exhibition Down the Rabbit Hole delves into the phenomena of paganism, spirituality and conspiracy through diverse artworks by Baltic artists. The show suggests to look at paganism and spirituality as a romanticized historical refuge, pointing to its transformation during the recent years, as it increasingly takes on conspiratorial elements dressed in corporate language.

By showcasing works from the 1960s till today, the exhibition displays an intergenerational connection and how artists’ experiences in the context of socio-political landscapes of different times have been expressed in the light of escapism, empowerment and conspirituality.
