What do video games say about us?

Gone are the days when video games were seen as just shooting, racing, or Minecraft. Today, they’re not only a favorite pastime for many but also a powerful medium for storytelling, challenging norms, and even driving social change.

But how do video games influence art – and are they art themselves? Which games spark critical thinking, and which ones shut it down? How can play help us understand the world’s rules, connect with different experiences, or even solve societal problems?

Let’s discuss this and more together with the curatorial team – Agnė Kuprytė (MO Museum) and Laura Schmidt (ZKM | Center for Art and Media) – alongside game critic, consultant, and BLON and GameOn programme curator Artūras “Artojas” Rumiancevas; VMU researcher and health sociologist Benediktas Gelūnas, PhD; and Ada Mockutė-Jaime, marketing manager at Lithuania’s largest game studio, Nordcurrent. The discussion will be moderated by editor and media expert Karolis Pilypas Liutkevičius.

The exhibition will be open starting at 18:00.
